CSA To Bid For FIFA Womens World Cup 2007

Edmonton, Alberta – The Canadian Soccer Association today announced it will prepare a formal bid to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2007. CSA President Andy Sharpe made the announcement at a media conference in Edmonton where Canada will play the United States in the final of the FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship, Sunday. During the conference, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter commented on the tremendous success of the tournament and Canada’s ability to host a future FIFA event.

Canada To Play Australia In Victoria and Vancouver

Edmonton, Alberta – The Canadian Soccer Association announced today that Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team will play a two-game series against Australia in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia on September 26 and 28, 2002 respectively.



The first game will be played on Thursday, September 26 at Swangard Stadium at 8:00 p.m. with the second game being played at Victoria’s Centennial Stadium on Saturday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m.

The game will be played at Easter Road Stadium (home of Scottish Premier League side Hibernian) at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Andrea Neil a ouvert la marque pour les Canadiennes à la 9e minute quand elle a pris possession du ballon dans la surface de réparation et a battu la gardienne Astrid Johannessen sur un tir vif et bas. Victoria To Host Under-17 Qualifying

Toronto, Ontario – The Football Confederation (CONCACAF) announced the dates and locations for their qualifying tournaments for the FIFA World Youth (Under-20) Championship and the FIFA Under-17 World Championship (Junior), Tuesday.
In both competitions, a pair of final tournaments with four teams each will be held in two different locations. At both levels, the final tournaments consist of the three North Zone countries, three countries from the Central Zone and two qualifiers from the Caribbean Zone.

Canada Earns Impressive Draw With Norway

Toronto, Ontario – Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team posted a 2-2 draw with Norway, the defending Olympic Gold Medallists in front of 4,625 happy fans at Centennial Stadium in Toronto, Wednesday.



Andrea Neil opened the scoring for the Canadians in the ninth minute when gathered the ball just inside the 18 and beat Norwegian goalkeeper Astrid Johannessen with a hard low shot. Fifteen minutes later she suffered a contusion to her left foot and was substituted by Oakville’s Kara Lang.

Roster For Game vs Norway At Centennial Stadium

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Women’s World Cup Team Head Coach Even Pellerud has named 18 players to the squad which will face Norway at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, Ontario on wednesday, July 17. The game has been confirmed at Centennial Stadium now that the strike by City of Toronto workers is over.
