Le Canada croisera le fer avec le Brésil dans la finale du championnat 2011 aux XVIes Jeux panaméricains

Le Canada affrontera le Brésil pour la médaille d’or dans la finale du championnat au Tournoi de football féminin 2011. Les deux adversaires se réuniront à l’Estadio Omnilife aux XVIes Jeux panaméricains 2011 à Guadalajara, Mexique. Le coup d’envoi de la finale sera donné à l’heure locale de 17.00 (18.00 HE / 15.00 HP) ce jeudi 27 octobre.

CSA Releases Details On Proposed National Soccer Stadium

Toronto, Ontario – At a media conference held at the National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place in downtown Toronto, The Canadian Soccer Association today unveiled its plans for a new 30,000-seat, $82 million stadium complete with a FIFA Recommended artificial grass playing surface designed to ideally suit international soccer while being compatible for CFL football as well as rugby, lacrosse and other field sports. The proposed location would be at Exhibition Place in downtown Toronto.
This morning, CSA has, in support of the project, submitted a complete and detailed application for financial contribution to the Government of Ontario. CSA President Andy Sharpe accompanied by FIFA Vice President Jack Warner met this morning with senior officials of the Government of Ontario and submitted a complete dossier of information related directly to this application of support. It is via the Government of Ontario as well as the Government of Canada that CSA is seeking $62.5 million in total public financial support for the project (shared equally between the provincial and federal governments).

Canada Defeats Brazil 2:1

Montreal, Quebec – Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team defeated sixth ranked Brazil 2-1 today in an international friendly in front of 12,245 at Molson Stadium in Montreal.



After a scoreless first half, Brazil’s Tatiana Torres was first to score in the 47th minute with a straight shot from 18 yards out.



Rhian Wilkinson of Baie D’Urfe, Quebec in her second appearance with Canada scored in the 67th minute when she tapped the ball into the net after a Kara Lang cross that sailed past the Brazil goal keeper Giselle Pereira De Vasconcellos.



After a Kristina Kiss free kick in the 88th minute, Canada’s winning goal came from Randee Hermus who was able to find the back of the net on a goal mouth scramble.

Canada To Play Germany, Japan and Argentina

Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team have been drawn into Group C and will play Germany, Japan and Argentina in the opening round of the 2003 Women’s World Cup.



Canada will play against Germany on September 20 in Columbus and then face Argentina on September 24 at Columbus. The team will then travel to Boston to play Japan at Foxboro Stadium on September 27.



Should Canada advance to the quarter-finals they would play against the winner or runner-up in Group D (China, Ghana, Australia and Russia) on October 2 in Portland.

Canadian Soccer Drums for Earthbeat 2003

Ottawa, Ontario – Members of the Canadian Women’s World Cup Soccer Team will join Chief Master Drummer Mr. Derek Debeer and local master drummers in support of Earthbeat 2003 at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18 at the World Exchange Plaza outdoor amphitheatre, located at Metcalfe Street and Queen Street, Ottawa. Following a drumming demonstration by the Earthbeat drummers, the Canadian players will themselves try their hand at drumming under the guidance of Debeer.



Earthbeat 2003 is an integrated community event in which over 3,000 drummers will gather in Ottawa next September 7, 2003, at the annual Urban Music Festival (www.urbanmusicfestival.com), to set a new world record for the largest drum ensemble in the world playing a piece of drum music. Turkey holds the current Guinness world record with 2,208 drummers.

Le Canada revient de l’arrière et bat le Brésil 2 à 1

Montréal, Québec – L’équipe canadienne féminine de Coupe du monde a vaincu le Brésil, classé sixième au monde, par la marque de 2 à 1 aujourd’hui dans un match international amical disputé devant 12 245 spectateurs au stade Percival Molson de l’Université McGill, à Montréal.



Après une première demie sans but, la Brésilienne Tatiana Torres a été la première à marquer à la 47e minute, grâce à un tir direct d’une quinzaine de mètres.



La Québécoise Rhian Wilkinson de Baie D’Urfé a marqué le but égalisateur à la 67e minute, à seulement son deuxième match international senior, quand elle a botté le ballon derrière la ligne des buts à la suite d’un centre de Kara Lang qui venait de passer au dessus du gardien Brésilien Giselle Pereira De Vasconcellos.

Le Canada affrontera l’Allemagne, le Japon et l’Argentine

L’équipe canadienne féminine de Coupe du monde a été pigée au sein du groupe C et affrontera l’Allemagne, le Japon et l’Argentine en première ronde de la Coupe du monde de soccer féminin 2003.



Le Canada affrontera l’Allemagne le 20 septembre à Columbus, puis croisera le fer avec l’Argentins, le 24 septembre à Columbus. L’équipe se rendra ensuite à Boston pour disputer la victoire aux Japon, au stade Foxboro, le 27 septembre.



Si le Canada accédait aux quarts de finale, l’équipe affronterait le gagnant où l’équipe de deuxième rang du Groupe D (Chine, Ghana, Australie et Russie), le 2 octobre à Portland.

Le soccer canadien au rythme de Earthbeat 2003

Ottawa, Ontario – Les membres de l’équipe canadienne féminine de Coupe du monde se joindront au maître-percussionniste en chef, M. Derek Debeer et aux maîtres-percussionnistes locaux pour souligner l’événement Earthbeat 2003 à 12 h 00 (Heure de l’Est) à la Place du Commerce Mondial, située au coin des rues Metcalfe et Queen à Ottawa. Après une démonstration de percussion par les percussionnistes de Earthbeat, les joueuses canadiennes s’exerceront elles-mêmes sur les instruments sous la direction de Debeer.



Earthbeat 2003 est un événement communautaire intégré qui se tiendra le 7 septembre 2003 réunissant plus de 3000 percussionnistes qui se réuniront dans la capitale nationale à l’occasion du festival de musique urbaine (www.urbanmusicfestival.com) afin d’établir un nouveau record du monde pour le plus grand ensemble percussionniste au monde. La Turquie détient le record Guinness actuel, ayant réuni 2208 percussionnistes.

Canada Placed 12th In FIFA Rankings

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Women’s World Cup Team were today placed in 12th in the world in the first edition of the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, announced today by FIFA at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.



FIFA has ranked men’s national teams for ten years, but unveiled its first women’s rankings today to coincide with the Final Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA 2003, being held tomorrow in Los Angeles at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., at 11 a.m. PT.



USA were placed in the top spot followed by reigning Olympic champion Norway and European champion Germany, with 2007 Women’s World Cup host China in fourth place. A resurgent Sweden is ranked fifth, followed by South American champion Brazil and Asian champion North Korea.
