Dans six semaines, l’équipe nationale canadienne féminine senior disputera son premier match au Stade BMO Field de Toronto, en Ontario.



Les billets pour ce match qui opposera le Canada au Brésil le jeudi 10 juillet prochain ont été mis en vente aujourd’hui pour le public. Les billets varient en prix entre 15 $ et 40 $ et sont disponibles auprès de Ticketmaster, au ticketmaster.ca, ou au 416 872-5000.

Toronto FC wins first Nutrilite Canadian Championship match

Toronto FC collected the first three points in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship after winning 1:0 over the Impact de Montréal. Toronto FC opened the new three-team tournament with a road win at Stade Saputo in Montréal.



Marco Velez scored the lone goal for Toronto FC in the 72nd minute while former Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton posted the shutout for the visitors. Toronto FC earned three points for the win.

Nutrilite Canadian Championship starts at Stade Saputo

Just eight days after opening its doors for the first time, Stade Saputo will host the first match of the new Nutrilite Canadian Championship. The Impact de Montréal will face Toronto FC in the first of six matches in the three-team tournament. On the line – a spot in the brand new CONCACAF Champions League™.



The Impact de Montréal is a veteran of the United Soccer Leagues First Division, most recently winning the league playoff title in 2004. The Impact, who have been in operation since 1993, just moved into the new Stade Saputo for the team’s 2008 home opener on 19 May.

Canadian women to debut at BMO Field against Brazil

Canada’s women’s national team will be making its debut at BMO Field this Thursday 10 July. For the debut, Canada has invited none other than Brazil, the runner-up at last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup China 2007. The Canada-Brazil match will kickoff at 19.00 ET (7pm) at BMO Field in Toronto, ON.



Tickets for the Canada-Brazil match go on sale next Thursday 29 May at 10.00 ET (07.00 PT). Tickets range in price from $15-$40. Tickets are available via ticketmaster.ca.

L’équipe nationale féminine fera ses grands débuts au Stade BMO Field face au Brésil

L’équipe nationale canadienne féminine senior fera ses grands débuts au Stade BMO Field de Toronto ce jeudi 10 juillet 2008. Pour bien marquer cette grande première, le Canada a invité la sélection nationale brésilienne, numéro deux de la dernière édition de la Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, Chine 2007, pour participer à l’événement. Le match opposant le Canada au Brésil aura lieu à 19 h (Heure de l’Est) au Stade BMO Field de Toronto, en Ontario.



Les billets pour ce match opposant le Canada au Brésil seront mis en vente à partir de mercredi prochain, 29 mai, à 10 h (Heure de l’Est). Les billets varient en prix de 15 $ à 40 $. Les billets seront disponibles auprès de Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.ca).

Association announces title partner for new Nutrilite Canadian Championship

The Canadian Soccer Association announced today the title sponsor for its new club competition, the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. The three-team, six-match tournament kicks off next week on 27 May 2008 in Montréal at Stade Saputo. The Impact de Montréal, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC are facing each other for a spot in the newly formed CONCACAF Champions League™.



“There is a great deal of excitement for the start of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship,” says Peter Montopoli, General Secretary, Canadian Soccer Association. “This three-team tournament is an important step in the evolution of club football in Canada.”

Canada prepares for Australian friendly

Canada’s women’s national team has had a good week of preparations in Sydney, Australia in anticipation of its international friendly on Friday 23 May. The Canucks will play the Matildas this 23 May 2008 at 17.15 local time (12.15 PT / 3.15 ET).



“We have had a short, but very good stay here in Sydney,” says coach Even Pellerud. “The game against Australia will be our first encounter since the 2:2 draw at FIFA Women’s World Cup China 2007. These two teams always seem to stage even battles and very exciting games, so we expect the same this time.”

« Notre séjour ici à Sydney a été bref, mais agréable, a déclaré l’entraîneur-chef de la sélection canadienne, Even Pellerud. Ce match face à l’Australie sera le premier affrontement contre les Australiennes depuis le match nul (par un score de 2 à 2) dans le cadre de la Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, Chine 2007. Ces deux équipes semblent toujours disputer des matchs équilibrés, qui sont également des matchs palpitants; on peut donc s’attendre à la même chose cette fois-ci. »

Canada announces rosters for upcoming friendlies

Canada’s men’s national team has announced the roster for its upcoming preparatory matches against Brasil (Brazil) and Panama. The Canucks will be gathering in Seattle, WA this Sunday 25 May to begin training for the high-profile international friendly match with the Brasilians, the world’s number-two ranked country. The Canucks will then head off to Fort Lauderdale, FL to play CONCACAF rivals Panama on 4 June.



“Our first game against Brasil will be a big occasion, but both matches will be invaluable in helping us to assess and prepare for our main focus, which is the qualifying process that begins next month against Saint Vincent and Grenadines,” says head coach Dale Mitchell.
