OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Earlier today, Head coach Even Pellerud announced the list of players who will compete for Canada in the inaugural Peace Queen Cup held in South Korea from October 28 to November 4, 2006.
Canada is in good shape heading to Korea. Last month, they made Canadian soccer history by cracking the top 10 FIFA rankings alongside Italy.
The women’s national team has faired well in recent competition since a 2:0 defeat to the Americans on July 30th in Cary, North Carolina. They are currently undefeated in four games with a 1-0-3 record after playing France to a 2:2 draw and a 1:0 win in late August. Prior to that series, the team drew Asian powerhouse China twice.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Three National Women’s Team players, Charmaine Hooper, Sharolta Nonen and Christine Latham, have retained counsel and made certain allegations regarding their suspension from the national team. The Canadian Soccer Association(CSA) has retained counsel to look into the matter and advise them. As a result of the fact that this matter is now in the hands of legal counsel, the CSA has been instructed not to make any further comments.
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – The Canadian Women’s National team will travel to South Korea in October to take part in the 1st Peace Queen Cup Korea 2006 that will be staged from October 28th to November 4th, 2006 in six Korean cities – Seoul; Cheonan; Suwon; Changwon; Masan; Gimhae. This tournament will be Canada’s final matches before it enters the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup where they will attempt to earn one of the region’s direct berths to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Peace Cup, which previously featured men’s club teams in the first two editions, will feature eight women’s national teams. The tournament was established to promote World Peace through soccer. This inaugural women’s Peace Cup will see teams playing a round-robin format in group play and the group winners meeting for the title.
Canada has been drawn in Group A with Italy, Brazil and the Korea Republic. Therefore, Canada will face Italy on October 28th, followed by the Korea Republic on October 30th and end group match play on November 1st against Brazil.

Il s’agira des derniers matchs de l’équipe avant la Gold Cup féminine de la CONCACAF 2006, au cours de laquelle les joueuses d’Even Pellerud tenteront d’obtenir l’un des billets automatiques de la région pour participer à la Coupe du Monde de football féminin 2007 de la FIFA.
Pour la première fois, huit sélections féminines prendront part à la Peace Cup qui, au cours de ses deux premières éditions, était uniquement à l’intention des équipes masculines. Le but du tournoi est de promouvoir la paix mondiale par l’entremise du soccer. Au cours de ce tournoi, les équipes seront réparties dans deux groupes et les vainqueurs s’affronteront par la suite en grande finale.
New York, USA – CONCACAF has announced the schedule of matches in the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ following a draw held on Monday at the offices of the CONCACAF General Secretariat in New York City, USA.
The third edition of the Women’s Gold Cup will have Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago and USA competing for the CONCACAF title along with two guaranteed spots in the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China.
In first round action, Mexico will play against Trinidad & Tobago with Panama having been drawn to face Jamaica. Both these first round encounters will take place at the Tropical Park Stadium in Miami, Florida on Sunday November 19th, 2006.
Canada will play Panama or Jamaica for World Cup birth on November 22nd
The victors in these two first round games will then advance to the semifinals of the event with the winner of Panama vs. Jamaica drawn to play against Canada while the team advancing from Mexico vs. Trinidad & Tobago will meet reigning Women’s Gold Cup Champions, USA. The semifinals take place on Wednesday November 22nd at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills (Carson, California).
New-York, É-U – À la suite d’un tirage au sort effectué lundi à son Secrétariat général de New York, la CONCACAF a annoncé le calendrier des matchs pour l’édition 2006 de la Gold Cup™ féminine.
Six pays participeront à cette troisième édition de la Gold Cup™ féminine (Canada, Jamaïque, Mexique, Panama, Trinité-et-Tobago et États-Unis) au cours de laquelle l’équipe championne de la région sera déterminée et deux équipes obtiendront une place pour participer à la Coupe du Monde de football féminine qui se tiendra en Chine en 2007.
Au cours des matchs du premier tour, le Mexique affrontera Trinité-et-Tobago et le Panama affrontera la Jamaïque. Les deux matchs auront lieu le dimanche 19 novembre prochain au stade Tropical Park de Miami, en Floride.
Les vainqueurs de ces matchs du premier tour passeront ensuite en demi-finale. Le vainqueur du match opposant le Panama à la Jamaïque affrontera le Canada, tandis que le vainqueur du match opposant le Mexique à Trinité-et-Tobago affrontera l’équipe championne en titre, les États-Unis. Les demi-finales auront lieu au Home Depot Center, sur le campus de l’Université California State, Dominguez Hills (à Carson, en Californie), le 22 novembre prochain.

Six teams will compete for the Confederation’s title when the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ takes place in two USA venues from 19-26 November 2006.
