CONCACAF announces 2006 Women’s Gold Cup schedule and venues

Ottawa, Ontario – CONCACAF, The governing body for soccer of North, Central America and the Caribbean, announced the host venues and match schedule yesterday for the upcoming 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup.



Six teams will compete for the Confederation’s title when the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ takes place in two USA venues from 19-26 November 2006.



The third edition of the Women’s Gold Cup will have Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago playing first round matches on November 19th at the Tropical Park Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Six teams will compete for the Confederation’s title when the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ takes place in two USA venues from 19-26 November 2006.



The third edition of the Women’s Gold Cup will have Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago playing first round matches on November 19th at the Tropical Park Stadium in Miami, Florida.



The first round victors will then advance to the Women’s Gold Cup semifinals and meet either Canada or the host, USA at the Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills (Carson, California) on November 22nd .



The tournament finals will take place on November 26th at the Home Depot Center with the third-place game and the Women’s Gold Cup Championship match.



CONCACAF will determine the tournament’s match-ups via a draw scheduled to take place on Monday October 9th at the offices of the CONCACAF General Secretariat in New York City, USA.



The tournament winner and the runner-up will qualify automatically to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China. The third-place finisher from the CONCACAF event will face Japan (from the Asian Football Confederation) in a home-and-away playoff for the final berth to the FIFA tournament.
