La CONCACAF annonce le calendrier des matchs de la Gold Cup™ féminine

Ottawa, Ontario – La CONCACAF, l’organisme qui régit le soccer en Amérique du Nord, en Amérique centrale et aux Caraïbes, a divulgué hier le calendrier des matchs de la prochaine Gold Cup™ féminine, ainsi que les stades où auront lieu ces matchs.



Six pays s’affronteront pour déterminer l’équipe championne de la Confédération au cours de la Gold Cup™ féminine 2006 de la CONCACAF, qui aura lieu du 19 au 26 novembre 2006 dans deux installations américaines.



Lors de cette troisième édition de la Gold Cup™ féminine, la Jamaïque, le Mexique, le Panama et la Trinité-et-Tobago disputeront les matchs du premier tour, le 19 novembre, au stade Tropical Park de Miami, en Floride.

Nash to join Canada for friendly against Jamaica

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s men’s national team Head Coach Stephen Hart has added midfielder Martin Nash of the 2006 United Soccer Leagues Champion Vancouver Whitecaps to his roster for the second friendly of a home and away series against Jamaica on October 8th in Kingston, Jamaica.



The Victoria, BC native has already earned 30 caps with the Canadian senior side since his debut in a World Cup Qualifier on April 6, 1997 against El Salvador which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Head coach Stephen Hart announces his roster for October 8th match date

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s men’s senior team is geared up to face Jamaica for game two of their home and away series. Earlier today, Head coach Stephen Hart announced the official roster that will compete in Kingston, Jamaica on October 8th.



Hart will be counting on this squad to shoot for a second consecutive victory against the reggae boys. A win in the tropic island would extend Canada’s unbeaten streak to five games.



Hart’s troop met Jamaica in an earlier match up this fall, outplaying their opponent to a 1:0 win on September 4th in front of an animated crowd in Montréal, Québec.

CSA Director of Technical Programs

The Canadian Soccer Association, which was founded in 1912 and has over 850,000 registered players and over 70,000 registered coaches, is seeking a Director of Technical Programs who will provide the leadership and dynamism necessary to take the Association’s Technical Program to a new level of success.
Principal Responsibilities:

  • Overall development and direction of the Association’s Technical Program, including the preparation and maintenance of a 5-year plan to achieve the Program’s objectives
  • Player and Coaching development at all levels
  • Direction and supervision of all National Training Centres
  • Direction and supervision of all National Youth Development Team coaches
  • Ongoing review and refinement of the Association’s Coaching Certification Program
  • Close liaison with the National Male and Female Senior Team coaches
  • Close working relationship with Provincial Technical Directors and their staff

Canada will challenge Hungary in International Friendly

Canada’s Men’s National Soccer team will play its fifth match of 2006 in Budapest, Hungary



Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association is proud to announce that Canada’s Men’s National soccer team will face Hungary in an International Friendly on November 15th, 2006 in Budapest. Hungary is currently ranked 59th by FIFA.



Canada’s last match up against Hungary dates back 20 years when both teams met in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Hungary won that game 2:0 played in Iraputo, Mexico.



Hungary’s most recent result comes off a 3:1 win versus Bosnia-Herzegovina on September 6th in UEFA EURO 2008 Preliminary Competition. Hungary has faired well recently, winning two of their last three international friendlies in 2006 with a 2:0 win against New Zealand on May 25th; a 3:0 loss to England on May 31st and most recently, a 2:1 victory against Austria on August 16th.

CSA announce new Director of Communications

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) is pleased to announce that Eric Lamoureux will be joining the CSA as Director of Communications effective Monday August 28th 2006.
Lamoureux joins the CSA with previous experience as a political and communications advisor to both the Federal and Municipal governments. A soccer enthusiast, Lamoureux has a proud background with Canadian soccer namely as a Carleton University Ravens alumni where he played in the Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS) league for three consecutive seasons from 2001 to 2003.

Hart Announces Roster for Labour Day Friendly against Jamaica in Montreal

Ottawa, Ontario – Interim Canadian National Team head coach Stephen Hart has announced his 18-player roster for the Jamaica friendly on Monday, September 4 (Labour Day) at 4:00 p.m. in Montreal at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard.



The match marks the team’s first appearance in Montreal in over 11 years; the last being a 3:0 loss to Turkey on June 7, 1995.



This will be Hart’s first match in charge of the Canadian National Team since being named interim head coach on July 12, 2006. Hart has been Canada’s Under-17 head coach since December 2001.



Hart’s roster definitely has a Montreal connection as six players are either from the area or are current or past players of the Montreal Impact of the United Soccer League (USL). Current Impact players are goalkeeper Greg Sutton, and defenders Adam Braz, and Gabriel Gervais. Past Impact players are Patrice Bernier who is currently with Tromso in Norway and Sandro Grande playing with Molde also of Norway; both are from Montreal. Forward Olivier Occean, also a native of Montreal, was named 2006 player of the year in Norway while playing for Lillestrom.

Moretto to Join the CSA

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) is pleased to announce that Mike Moretto, current Manager of the Montreal Impact of the United Soccer League’s First Division will be joining the CSA as National Teams Equipment Manager following the end of the Impact’s season.
Moretto began his career with the Impact in 1993 as a member of the Technical Department and took on the role of Team Manager in 1997. Prior to the Impact, Moretto held the position of Equipment Manager for the Montreal Supra in 1990-1992 of the now defunct Canadian Soccer League.

Pellerud annouces roster for China series

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Women’s National Team Head Coach, Even Pellerud, has announced today his 18-woman roster for the upcoming two-game friendly series versus perennial Asian Football Confederation (AFC) qualifiers, China.



The Canadians, ranked 11th in the world will renew acquaintances with the 8th ranked Chinese at King George V Stadium in St. John’s, Newfoundland on August 19th at 16:00 (local time) and August 22nd at 17:30 (local time). These rivals should be very familiar with one another, having met 13 times in the past including Canada’s memorable 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2003 Women’s World Cup. With these matches the Chinese will become Canada’s second most frequent opponent at the Women’s National Team level behind only the United States, whom Canada has played a staggering 36 times.
