Ottawa, Ontario – L’équipe canadienne féminine de Coupe du monde a signé une deuxième victoire consécutive de 4 à 0 sur l’Angleterre dans un match international amical disputé jeudi, devant 17 242 spectateurs au stade Frank Clair d’Ottawa. Cette victoire survient après une autre victoire de 4 à 0 remportée aux dépends des Anglaises, lundi soir à Montréal.



La Canadienne Andrea Neil a ouvert la marque à la huitième minute sur un coup de tête à la suite d’un beau centre de Kristina Kiss, une joueuse originaire de Ottawa.



Christine Latham a battu le gardien Rachel Brown de l’Angleterre à la 17e minute sur un centre de Breanna Boyd.

Osieck Announces Roster For Friendly vs Germany

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Men’s World Cup Team Head Coach Holger Osieck today announced his roster for the upcoming international friendly against Germany on June 1 in Wolfsburg, Germany. The game will be televised on Rogers Sportsnet at 7:00 p.m. across the network.



Jason Jordan and Nikola (Niki) Budalic have earned their first call-up to the senior team for the game. Jordan has played for Canada at the Olympic and Youth team level. He was a member of the 1997 team which competed at the FIFA World Youth Championship. Jordan is in his sixth season with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Budalic plays with Orebro in the Swedish Premier league and is a former member of the Toronto Lynx.

CSA Withdraws Edmonton Bid

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association announced late Thursday evening it has officially withdrawn its bid to host a Women’s World Cup group in Edmonton, Alberta. The CSA had bid to have Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium act as one of the venues for the 2003 World Cup should FIFA decide to award the tournament to the United States.
However after consulting with CONCACAF President Jack Warner on Thursday the CSA decided to withdraw their offer.

Sportsnet Broadcast Schedule

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association and Rogers Sportsnet announced today the network will broadcast Canada’s upcoming friendly against England Thursday night from Ottawa.
Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team will play England at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa at 7:00 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast at 11:00 p.m. in the East, 11:30 p.m. in Ontario, 8:00 p.m. (MT) in the West, and 8:00 p.m. (PT) in the West Coast.

Canadian Women To Play Brazil

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association today announced its Women’s World Cup Team will host a two-game series against Brazil on July 17 and 20, as part of its ongoing preparation for the Women’s World Cup. The venue of the July 17 game will be announced at a later date while the July 20 game will be played at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa.



“As a result of the tremendous support shown by the local soccer community for our upcoming game against England, we are delighted to announce that we will be bringing one of the most exciting teams in the World to Ottawa,” said CSA Chief Operating Officer Kevan Pipe at a media conference for Thursday’s international friendly in Ottawa against England. “Brazil is generally considered one of the top five countries in the World in women’s soccer and their style of play and flair are always a joy to watch.”

Les Brésiliennes en tournée au Canada

Ottawa, Ontario – L’Association canadienne de soccer a annoncé aujourd’hui que son équipe féminine de Coupe du monde accueillera celle du Brésil dans une série de deux matchs, les 17 et 20 juillet, en préparation pour la phase finale de Coupe du monde de soccer féminin. Le site pour le match du 17 juillet reste à être déterminé tandis que le match du 20 juillet sera présenté au stade Frank Clair à Ottawa.



« En raison du soutien incroyable démontré par la communauté de soccer pour notre match contre l’Angleterre, nous sommes fiers d’annoncer que nous allons accueillir une des équipes les plus excitantes au monde à Ottawa, » a déclaré le directeur général de l’ACS, Kevan Pipe, en conférence de presse précédent le match amical de jeudi entre le Canada et l’Angleterre. « L’équipe du Brésil est généralement considérée comme une des cinq meilleures au monde et son style de jeu et son flair sont toujours plaisants à regarder. »

Canada Defeats England 4:0

Montreal, Quebec – Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team defeated England 4-0 in an international friendly at the Catalogna Soccerplexe in Lachine, Quebec, Monday in front of a sell-out crowd of 2125. The second game of the series will be played on Thursday, May 22 at Frank Clair Stadium.



The last time the two teams met was at the 1995 Women’s World Cup in Sweden and the English came away with a 3-2 win. Andrea Neil and Charmaine Hooper both played in that game. It was Neil who opened the scoring in the 20th minute when her right footed cross/shot drifted over the top of England goalkeeper Rachel Brown.

Montréal, Québec – L’équipe canadienne féminine de Coupe du monde a remporté une victoire convaincante de 4 à 0 sur l’Angleterre dans un match international amical disputé au Soccerplexe Catalogna dans l’arrondissement Lachine, au Québec lundi soir devant des gradins bondés à capacité. Le deuxième match de la série sera disputé jeudi le 22 mai au stade Frank Clair.



La dernière fois que ces deux équipes s’étaient affrontées c’était à la Coupe du monde de 1995 en Suède et les Anglaises l’avaient remporté 3 à 2. Andrea Neil et Charmaine Hooper ont disputé ce match. C’est Neil qui avait ouvert la marque à la 20e minute quand son tir centré du pied droit a vogué par dessus le filet de la gardienne Rachel Brown.
