L’Association canadienne de soccer a annoncé aujourd’hui que l’équipe nationale féminine du Canada disputera un match avec l’équipe nationale féminine de l’Angleterre le jeudi 22 mai au Stade Frank Sinclair (le coup d’envoi est prévu pour 19 h) en préparation pour la Coupe du Monde Féminine 2003 en Chine.
L’Angleterre est l’une des meilleures équipes féminines du monde, mais l’équipe a été éliminée de justesse par la France pour la cinquième et dernière place de qualification européenne au mois de novembre dernier.

Nigeria will be in the United States in advance of their international match against the USA on April 26, 2003.
“I am very delighted to have two more international ‘A’ matches versus another very strong women’s national team to further assist us in our preparation program for China 2003,” said Head Coach Even Pellerud.

Osieck has named goalkeepers Kenny Stamatopoulos and Pat Onstad to the squad. Stamatopoulos, who has become a regular for Kalamata in the Greek Second Division, earns his first call up since the 2002 Gold Cup while Onstad will join the club from San Jose after signing with the MLS Earthquakes last week. Canadian international goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld suffered a hamstring injury Wednesday night in Luton Town’s 0-0 draw with Oldham. Hirschfeld is to receive an MRI today to discover the extent of the injury.

However, a 1-1 draw at the Algarve Cup on Friday and a string of good results against their neighbours may be changing all that.
