Ottawa, Ontario –L’Association canadienne de soccer (ACS) et le réseau de télévision Rogers Sportsnet sont fiers d’annoncer que le réseau télédiffusera les matchs de l’équipe canadienne féminine de Coupe du monde au tournoi de qualification olympique de la CONCACAF à San José, au Costa Rica.
L’équipe canadienne entreprendra son parcours vers une place au tournoi olympique d’Athènes face à la Jamaïque, jeudi le 26 février à 19 h 00 (Heure de l’Est/16 h 00 Heure du Pacifique). Ce match sera télédiffusé en direct sur Sportsnet Pacific.
À noter que pour les téléspectateurs qui ne captent pas Sportsnet Pacific pourront voir ce match en différé à 23 h 00 (Heure de l’Est) sur Sportsnet East; 23 h 30 (Heure de l’Est) sur Sportsnet Ontario et à 23 h 00 (Heure du Centre) sur Sportsnet West.
Le prochain événement sur le calendrier de compétition de la CONCACAF est la ronde finale de qualification olympique féminine, à compter de ce soir au Costa Rica. Le tournoi se déroule au stade Nacional de San José ainsi qu’au stade Eladio Rosabal Cordero d’Herédia. Les Canadiennes disputeront leur premier match demain soir à 19 h 00 (Heure de l’Est). La rencontre sera télédiffusée en direct par le réseau Rogers Sportsnet Pacific (surveillez votre télé-horaire local).
Depuis l’arrivée du soccer féminin aux Jeux olympiques il y a huit ans, la CONCACAF a envoyé un seul pays, soit les États-Unis (1996 et 2000). Cette année, la confédération aura droit à deux équipes à Athènes, ce qui justifie la présentation de la ronde finale de qualification.

The next event on the CONCACAF competition calendar in 2004 is the Women’s Olympic Final Round Qualification, begins tonight in Costa Rica. The tournament will take place at the Estadios Nacional and Eladio Rosabal Cordero in San José and Herédia. Canada’s first match is against Jamaica tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. CT – LIVE on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific (please check your local listings).
Since the inception of the women’s football competition at the Summer Games eight years ago, CONCACAF has sent one qualifier to each of the last two Olympics (1996, 2000), in both cases the USA. In 2004, CONCACAF will qualify two teams to Athens, Greece as the Confederation stages its first-ever Final Round Qualification.
Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association is proud to announce a new partnership with the Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association for athletes with Cerebral Palsy (CP). The partnership came after a year of discussions between the two associations.
The initial goal of the soccer program is to participate in the 2007 CP -ISRA (Cerebral Palsy International Sport and Recreation Association) Soccer championships as well as the 2008 Paralympics in China with a competitive Canadian national team.

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Women’s World Cup Team head coach Even Pellerud has announced his 20-player roster for the upcoming CONCACAF Olympic Qualifications in San Jose, Costa Rica from February 25 – March 5, 2004. The Canadian team travelled on Tuesday, February 17 to begin final preparations for next week’s qualifications.
Canada will compete in Group A with Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Panama and will begin against Jamaica on Thursday, February 26th at 4:00 p.m. (local). Canada will then play Panama on Saturday, February 28th at 1:00 p.m. (local) before ending group play against Costa Rica on Monday, March 1st at 8:00 p.m. (local).
Ottawa, Ontario – L’entraîneur-chef Even Pellerud de l’équipe canadienne féminine de Coupe du monde a dévoilé son alignement de 20 joueuses pour le tournoi de qualification olympique de la CONCACAF à San José, au Costa Rica, du 25 février au 5 mars 2004. Les membres de l’équipe ont voyagé mardi le 17 février, afin d’entreprendre leurs derniers préparatifs avant le début du tournoi.
Le Canada se retrouve au sein du Groupe A avec le Costa Rica, la Jamaïque et le Panama et débutera contre la Jamaïque, jeudi le 26 février à 16 h 00 (Heure locale). Les Canadiennes joueront ensuite contre le Panama, samedi le 28 février à 13 h 00, puis le Costa Rica, lundi le 1er mars à 20 h 00.
Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association is proud to announce the selection of the Women’s World Cup Team and Head Coach Even Pellerud as finalists for the 31st Annual Canadian Sport Award by the Spirit of Sport Foundation.
The Women’s World Cup Team was selected in the Female Team of the Year category for their fourth place finish at the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in the United States last fall.
“What an honour it is to be a candidate for this award,” said Pellerud. “This is significant and confirms the increased status of soccer in Canada. It will provide additional motivation for the players in the short and long term.”
In addition to the selection of the team, Pellerud is a finalist in the Coach of the Year category of the awards. Pellerud’s nomination by Right To Play (formerly Olympic Aid), an international NGO based in Toronto was fully supported by the CSA.
Ottawa, Ontario – L’Association canadienne de soccer est fière d’annoncer que l’équipe féminine de Coupe du monde et son entraîneur-chef Even Pellerud sont finalistes au 31e Prix sportifs canadiens de la Fondation de l’Esprit du sport du Canada.
L’équipe féminine de Coupe du monde est en nomination dans la catégorie « Équipe féminine de l’Année » à la suite de sa quatrième place à la Coupe du monde 2003 de la FIFA aux États-Unis l’automne dernier.
« Quel honneur d’être candidat pour ce prix, » a déclaré Pellerud. « C’est signifiant et confirme le statut montant du soccer au pays. C’est une motivation additionnelle pour les joueuses, à court et à long terme. »
