PEI Soccer announces annual award winners

The Prince Edward Island Soccer Association announced its award winners at its annual awards banquet. Mozesh Gyorio and Tessa Roche were the big winners as the male and female Senior Players of the Year.



Other award winners were Junior Players of the Year Jared Murphy and Jill Edwards, Coaches of the Year Brian Allain and Lincoln Rix, Senior Referee of the Year Doug Smith, Junior Referee of the Year Josh Bowman, Administrator of the Year Lori Lund, Volunteer of the Year Kirk McAleer, Lowell Stewart Memorial Award winner Emma Kelly, and Team of the Year Avondale Islanders.

Soccer New Brunswick announces award winners

Soccer New Brunswick celebrated its 2009 award winners at its Annual General Meeting and Awards Luncheon. Alex Thériault and Dayle Colpitts were the big winners as the male and female Players of the Year.



Other award winners were Volunteer of the Year Robert Morimanno, Coach of the Year Victor Bourque, Manager of the Year Kim Boucher, Referee of the Year Dave MacDonald, and Team of the Year Fundy U12 Premier Boys.

Canada falls in FYR Macedonia

Canada’s men’s national team fell 0:3 to FYR Macedonia on Saturday afternoon in the first of two international friendly matches during its European camp. Bulgarian referee Anton Genov awarded four penalty kicks in the match, two to each team. Macedonian star Goran Pandev converted both of his side’s spot kicks while Canada failed to score on either of their opportunities.

Hart readies Canada for FYR Macedonia

The Canadian men’s national team will go looking for its second consecutive win on European soil when they take on FYR Macedonia in an international friendly this Saturday, 14 November. The match will kick off at 13.00 local time (07.00 ET / 04.00 PT), from the Mladost Stadium in Strumica, Macedonia.

Toronto FC announces award winners

Toronto FC has announced its annual award winners at its year-end “90th Minute” party in Toronto, ON. The Major League Soccer franchise celebrated its third season at Alice Fazooli’s in downtown Toronto on Wednesday night.



Midfielder Dwayne De Rosario won both the Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot awards, goalkeeper Stefan Frei won the Defender of the Year award, and defender/captain Jim Brennan won the Humanitarian of the Year award.

Canada prepares in Skopje

Canada’s men’s national team will wrap up its week-long training camp in Skopje on Friday morning before shifting camp to Strumica in the south east of Macedonia. Coach Stephen Hart and his staff are using the camp to prepare the team for their upcoming international friendly matches against FYR Macedonia (14 November) and Poland (18 November).

Beaulieu-Bourgault added to Canadian roster

Canada’s national team has added Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault to the roster for its current camp in Europe. Beaulieu-Bourgault is coach Stephen Hart’s 18 call-up for the camp that includes international friendly matches against FYR Macedonia (14 November) and Poland (18 November).



“This is a good opportunity for Jonathan to join the squad,” said Hart. “He was unlucky to miss out on the Cyprus game (31 May) through injury. He is available now and I am sure he is thrilled to be part of the selection.”

Canada announces roster for European matches

Canada’s men’s national team has announced its 17-player roster in advance of the upcoming international matches in Europe. The Canadian squad will play FYR Macedonia on 14 November and Poland on 18 November. The first match will be played in Strumica, Macedonia and will kickoff at 13.00 local time (07.00 ET / 04.00 PT), while the second match will be played in Bydgoszcz, Poland and kickoff at 17.00 local (11.00 ET / 08.00 PT).



Interim head coach Stephen Hart has named an experienced squad for the European matches. Fifteen of the 17 players named play professional football in Europe. The two other players come from North American-based clubs – Toronto FC’s Julian de Guzman and DC United’s Dejan Jakovic.

Morace announces details for Florida camp

Canadian women’s national team head coach Carolina Morace has announced details on Canada’s upcoming training camp in Sunrise, Florida. The 12-day camp will run this 3 – 14 November and will feature 22 players.



“This is an important training camp as we continue to build towards the FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualification tournament in 2010,” said head coach Morace. “As our program is currently in a transition phase, the time we spend together is very valuable. I have taken this opportunity to expand the pool of players for the senior national team program by bringing in several players who haven’t been involved in the national team set up in the past.”
