Match Report

USA has won the 2010 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship following an 1:0 victory over Mexico in the final. USA won the final on a goal scored by Sydney Leroux in the 88th minute.

Costa Rica, meanwhile, picked up the final qualification spot for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Germany 2010. Costa Rica finished third following a 1:0 victory over Canada.

"We lost the tournament based on our game against Mexico in the semi-final stage," said Canada's national coach Carolina Morace. Canada lost that match 0:1 after extra time just two days earlier.

"We are young team with lots of 1992-born players (that will still be eligible in two years)," said Canadian captain Chelsea Stewart, who was part of Canada's CONCACAF championship victory in 2008. "Hopefully this group will use the loss as motivation for another CONCACAF championship and FIFA World Cup qualification in 2012."

The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Germany 2010 runs this 13 July to 1 August. Costa Rica, Mexico and champion USA will represent CONCACAF at the 16-team Germany 2010 tournament. USA is the reigning world champion from Chile 2008.
