Canada played three matches in three different cities at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, eliminated from the group phase after a pair of losses and a draw. From a difficult group, they lost on a 92nd-minute winner to Martinique, lost to eventual third-place finishers Mexico, then drew eventual runners up Panama. Canada’s Julian de Guzman was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team and was named his team’s MVP of the tournament.
