Canada finished second at the 2015 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship, falling 0:1 to rivals USA in the championship match. American Ashley Sanchez scored the lone goal in the 72nd minute after a Canadian giveaway.
It was Canada's first defeat in 13 CONCACAF women's youth matches (across U-17s, U-15s, and U-20s). With a second-place finish, Canada has won five medals (two gold, three silver) in six editions of the CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship since 2004.
Canada was a boss on defence in the first half, holding the Americans to not much more than a half chance or two. On one occasion, Taylor Pryce broke through for Canada, but she couldn't beat the American goalkeeper Rose Chandler. At the other end, USA's best chance came after Sanchez deflected a Proulx clearance just past the goal post.
In the second half, Canada pressed forward with chances of their own, with Sura Yekka once hitting the side of the net. At the other end, Lysianne Proulx made a good save at the side of Canada's net. From the bench, substitutes Alex Lamontagne and Victoria Pickett provided the infused pace on either side, while Pryce pressed forward at the top.
Deep into the match, Canada added more pressure after third substitute Marike Mousset entered the game. On this night, an equaliser was just not in the cards for Canada.
