Canada Soccer is pleased to announce that hosting applications are now being accepted for the 2022 Active Start Soccer Fests program which will mark the 26th season of the country’s largest and longest running grassroots soccer program. Following a condensed 2021 season due to the ongoing pandemic, Canada Soccer continues to prioritize the safety of staff, volunteers, players and parents and is looking forward to supporting the 2022 Active Start Soccer Fests program in accordance with local public health guidelines. Clubs looking to host an Active Start Soccer Festival in 2022 can now apply, however, it should be noted that all clubs must ensure they are following their respective Member Association’s guidelines for Return-to-Play, as well as all relevant public health authority guidelines.

As Canada’s largest national grassroots soccer program, community soccer club administrators, coaches and volunteers are encouraged to apply online today to host a fun-filled event in your community. With the festival schedule expected to fill-up quickly, prospective hosts are encouraged to submit their applications early to secure their desired festival date.

Canada Soccer’s Active Start Soccer Fests have supported community soccer activity for more than two decades and reached over four million Canadians through the delivery of financial grants, and promotional and technical resources to clubs from coast to coast to coast. Since its’ inception, the program has distributed over one million dollars directly to community clubs across the country.

“The Active Start Soccer Fests program provides a welcoming, fun, and developmentally appropriate environment for young players to experience the game of soccer,” said Jason deVos Canada Soccer’s Director of Development. “Kids who have free play opportunities to experience the joy of the game are those most likely to develop a lifelong love of the sport.”

In addition to the financial and technical support provided to all festival hosts, the program’s corporate partners enhance the festival events through the provision of giveaways, facilitation of appearances by Canadian National Team athletes in select markets, and the implementation of unique technical programming at select festivals. Canada Soccer in collaboration with its corporate partners will be announcing further developments to the program later in the year. Be sure to visit canadasoccer.com for regular updates.
