Canada won a silver medal at the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship in Guatemala. After winning all three group matches, Canada won the 10 May semi-final 1:0 over Mexico to qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Azerbaijan 2012. Two days later, Canada lost 0:1 to USA in the final. It marked Canada’s third-straight medal in the competition (gold 2010, silver 2012, bronze 2008) and second silver medal in CONCACAF women’s youth championships in 2012 (following a second-place finish at the Under-20s in March).
