Match Report

Christine Sinclair produced her third four-goal performance on 31 October, the 10th for Canada's women's national team. Her four-goal output helped Canada win 8:0 over Guyana, a second-consecutive victory in the group stage of the 2010 CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifier.

Sinclair's last four-goal match was 18 July 2007 against Jamaica at the XV Pan American Games Rio 2007. She also scored four goals on 30 October 2002 against Haiti at the CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifier.

Of note, Sinclair's fourth goal against Guyana was the 106th goal of her international career, moving her past current Canadian coach Carolina Morace (who played international football for Italy). Sinclair is seventh all time in women's international football, albeit one goal back of retired Italian national leader Elisabetta Vignotto.

Other players who have scored four goals for Canada are Charmaine Hooper (19 April 1991), Silvana Burtini (five goals on 15 August 1994 and eight goals on 28 August 1998), Shannon Rosenow (28 August 1998 and 30 August 1998), Kara Lang (1 November 2002), and Aysha Jamani (28 February 2004).

Sinclair previously scored four goals in a match twice as U-19 youth player. She scored four goals against Mexico on 5 July 2002 (friendly match) and five goals against England on 25 August 2002 (FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2002).

Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, is taking part in the 2010 CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifier from 28 October to 8 November. Canada has qualified for each of the last four FIFA Women's World Cups and hopes to make it five straight with a qualification to Germany 2011.
