Canada won 2:1 over Costa Rica to earn their second consecutive win at the 2018 Concacaf Women's Under-17 Championship, albeit six weeks in between matches. Andersen Williams scored both goals - one in each half - to secure the Canada victory.
Williams scored the opening goal in the 18th minute after she shot it past the Costa Rica goalkeeper. The team had 11 touches on the ball before Jade Rose fired the ball forward. With Jordyn Huitema dangerously attacking the goal area, the ball dropped to Williams who knocked it into net.
On the play, the ball went from Anna Karpenko to Maya Antoine to Sonia Walk to Jayde Riviere, then back to Rose to Walk and to Rose before she fired
Williams then made it 2-0 in the 50th minute after a long goal kick forward by Canadian goalkeeper Anna Karpenko. The ball hit the Costa Rica defender into the path of Williams who sped forward with four touches before firing her low shot past the goalkeeper into the opposite corner.
Caitlin Shaw nearly added to the Canadian scoreline in the 68th minute, but her low shot hit the post and stayed out. Late in the match, Costa Rica got one back as Maria Salas cut the lead in the 86th minute.
