Match Report

A young Canadian team battled Norway to a 0:0 draw in the final match of the 2013 Yongchuan Cup.

Canada needed a win to overtake Norway in the tournament standings, and as a result of the draw, finished in second place at the competition.

It was a match of limited chances, with Norway's Isabelle Hersloven having arguably the best chance of the game when she hit the cross bar in the second half.

Canadian goalkeeper Erin McLeod earned her second clean sheet of the tournament on the night.

Christabel Oduro had the first real chance of the game when she latched onto a ball over the top and showed good pace to break through on goal. Her first effort was partially saved by Ingrid Hjelmseth and the Norwegian keeper had to scramble to beat Oduro to the ball to prevent a certain goal.

Norway answered back with a curling free kick that was headed inches wide of Erin McLeod's far post by Mari Knudsen.

McLeod was called on again minutes later to make an excellent save on a volleyed attempt from only 12 yards out.

Canada started well in the second half, controlling the majority possession but it was Norway who carved out the better chances.

Hersloven had the closest attempt when she smashes an effort off the cross-bar from just  outside the box.

Oduro had a late chance for Canada breaking in on goal, but again, the goalkeeper won-out in a last-ditch challenge.

Canada started the match with Erinc McLeod in goal; Rhian Wilkinson, Emily Zurrer, Kadeisha Buchanan and Lauren Sesselmann across the back-line; Desiree Scott, Diana Matheson (captain) and Sophie Schmidt through the midfield; and Christabel Oduro, Jodi-Ann Robinso and Adriana Leon across the attacking line.

Kaylyn Kyle entered the match in the 40th minute.

Tiffany Cameron, Bryanna McCarthy, Robyn Gayle, Ashley Lawrence and Nichelle Prince entered the match in the second half.

Buchanan received yellow card in the 30th minute.

Norway started the match with Ingrid Hjelmseth in goal; and Kristine Hegland, Marit Christensen, Mari Knudsen, Ingrid Ryland, Ingvild Isaksen, Isabell Herlovsen, Leni Kaurin, Nora Berge, Lene Mykjaland and Idan Enget across the pitch.
