Match Report

Pacific FC secured their spot in the Canadian Championship Semi-Final Round with 0:1 victory over Cavalry FC.

In the 12’, Manuel Aparicio took a shot from distance while on the run but his shot went wide of the Cavalry net.

In the 21’, a strong left hand save by Cavalry keeper Marco Carducci stopped a pass across the front of the net from reaching the Pacific attacker.

In the 26’, Mohamed Farsi made a great run and put in a cross that found Joseph Di Chiara who was unable to get a proper shot away.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring, courtesy of Terron Campbell who blasted a shot into the top corner after Abdoulaye Samake headed the ball back into the middle of the box (33’).

In the second half, Cavalry began to put more and more pressure on Pacific as they looked for an equalizer. In the 69’, Farsi put in a dangerous low cross through the Pacific FC box, but defender Alessandro Hojabrpour got a touch just before it could reach the attacking Sergio Camargo and was able to clear to safety.

Pacific nearly doubled the lead in the 85’ thanks to Victor Blasko who had only just entered the match. He got a clear break and was able to beat the keeper but his shot was stopped on the line by the head of David Norman.

In the 90+1’, Gianni Dos Santos took a hard shot that was parried away by Carducci after he made a blistering run in behind the Cavalry defence.

The Cavalry FC starting XI featured Canadian Marco Carducci in goal, with Daan Klamp alongside Canadians Mason Trafford, Nik Ledgerwood, and Mohamed Farsi on defence. Jose Escalante was joined by Canadians Sergio Camargo, Joseph Di Chiara, Elliot Simmons, and David Norman in midfield. Canadian Anthony Novak was the lone striker for the home side.

Coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. brought on Ahinga Selemani and Jose Hernandez for Di Chiara and Escalante (58’), Ben Fisk for Camargo (88’), and Karifa Yao for Novak (88’).

Pacific FC’s starting XI featured Canadian Callum Irving in goal. Abdoulaye Samake was joined by Canadians Kadin Chung, Jordan Haynes, and Lukas Macnaughton to form the defensive line. Canadians Alessandro Hojabrpour, Jamar Dixon, and Manuel Aparicio made up the midfield. Alejandro Diaz and Canadians Josh Heard and Terran Campbell started up front.

Coach Pa-Modou Kah brought on Thomas Meilleur-Giguere in the place of Josh Heard (79’), Gianni Dos Santos and Victor Blasco for Campbell and Diaz (84’), and Sean Young for Aparicio (90’).
