2009 Canadian Championship
The second edition of the Canadian Championship again featured three teams and a round-robin format. Led by coach Chris Cummins, Toronto FC won their first national title after an inspiring come-from-behind victory in the final week. With Vancouver Whitecaps poised to to win the tournament on goals difference, Toronto surprised everyone with an away 6:1 victory in the rain in Montréal. Toronto FC lifted the Voyageurs Cup at Stade Saputo and qualified for the 2009-10 edition of Concacaf Champions League.
