wrote Carl Fleming, Sayer was “instrumental in the development of women’s soccer (as) he founded the Lunenburg Lasers SC which dominated their female opponents throughout the province from 1979 to 1985, winning five provincial and Atlantic championships”...

as part of the first Eastern Canadian Women’s Club Soccer Championship in Lunenburg in 1982, Sayer wrote that Soccer Nova Scotia “has been a strong advocate for Canada Soccer recognition and encouragement of women’s soccer and has donated the Nova Scotia Cup to this eastern Canadian competition”... also wrote Sayer as part of his program welcome for the 1982 Eastern Canadian Championship, “what next for the senior women’s game - provincial all-star competition, a national team, even a World Cup of women’s soccer?”...

wrote Barry Dorey in 1985, Sayer was “one of Nova Scotia’s most involved and recognizable soccer personalities”... wrote Terry Quinn in 1992, “your many successes in the game as a ‘player’ and administrator have made a very important mark on our sports in Nova Scotia and Canada. Your belief in the development of a National Team Program, which included a women’s team, will remain one of your very best accomplishments”...

said Sayer in 2000, “I’m immensely pleased and proud how much the sport has grown and there’s a w hole big future ahead of us. Hard work and committed volunteers had made dreams come true. Now wherever you go in Nova Scotia, a soccer game isn’t very far away”...
