James Adam... football family (father Robert)... both his father Robert and mother Jane were born in Scotland... he was 11 years old when his family moved from Kilmarnock, SCO to Nanaimo, BC, CAN in July 1893 (father Robert had moved two years earlier in 1891)... he was 57 years old when he passed away in Victoria, BC on 19 March 1939... owned a grocery store in Victoria...

posthumously honoured by the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame (he was was shortlisted as an alternate builder in the inaugural year of 2000 and later honoured in 2008)... posthumously honoured by the Soccer Hall of Fame of British Columbia...

as noted in the Sunshine newspaper in 1915, “Jimmy is very fond of athletic sports and as a centre forward in soccer plays a brilliant game. In fact, so great was his fame in this game that he captained the Island team in San Francisco and other cities in the States and brought them back victorious”... said Adam in 1924 before leaving with Canada for a tour of Australia and New Zealand, “followers of soccer in Canada can rest assured that all will do their best”... as noted in 1924 in an Australia program, Adam was “once one of the finest centre forwards Canada has ever seen”... wrote the Victoria Times in 1939, “probably the most brilliant centre forward in the history of Canadian soccer, Jimmie Adam captained the All-British Columbia soccer teams in practically all occasions from 1903 to 1915”...
