Bio

Solomon Brubacher

Solomon Brubacher... he was 51 years old when he passed away in Berlin by asphyxiation on 29 August 1915 (his death was caused by gas heater burning oxygen out of air)...

as noted by the Newark Press in 1885, “he is recognised as being the best “back” in the country, possessing extraordinary skill, combined with a cool head, and is always to be relied upon”... also noted by the Newark Press, he “is of stoutish build, with a decided German cast of features and general form; he is of dark complexion, and, but for the demand athletic sports make upon his time, he would spend a good deal of attention in cultivating his incipient moustache”... wrote the Toronto Globe in 1888, Brubacher was “cool as of yore; a tower of strength”... as noted in the Berlin News Record in 1915, “Brubacher was a man of the highest character. The church of which he was a member, loses one of its active members. His place in the life of the community will be difficult to fill. His neighbors speak of him in the highest terms. In the business world, his word was as good as a bond. Many testimonies to this effect were heard upon every side”...
