Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian men’s national team head coach Holger Osieck today released the roster of players he will draw from for the upcoming international friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago and Honduras and the World Cup Qualifying games against Barbados or Cuba.
Absent from the roster due to injury are Mark Watson (ankle), Craig Forrest (recovering from a hernia operation), Jim Brennan (recovering from a hernia operation) and Marc Bircham (ankle). The roster includes two players who are joining the World Cup team for the first time in Kevin McKenna and Mike Franks. Both played for Canada during recent Olympic Qualifying Games. Canada is scheduled to play Trinidad and Tobago on May 27 in Toronto and Honduras in Winnipeg on May 30. Canada will then travel to the Caribbean to play the runner-up of the Cuba-Barbados series on June 4. The return game will be played in Winnipeg on either June 11 or 18. Cuba and Barbados posted a 1-1 draw on May 7 in Havana with the return game slated for May 21 in Barbados.
