Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Women’s World Cup Team head coach Even Pellerud today released a 17-player roster for the upcoming training camp in Alliston, Ontario from May 20-27. The team comes together in order to prepare for a European tour from June 5-20.
Canada will face the Swedish National Team on June 10 in an international friendly before heading to Germany for two matches against the 1999 World Cup quarterfinalists on June 14 and 17. Pellerud’s squad will culminate their European tour with a visit to Norway where they will take on the 2000 Olympic Gold Medallists on June 19.
Canada will re-assemble for a home and away series against the United States in Toronto on June 30 and Blaine, Minnesota on July 3. This will mark the first meeting between the two countries since Canada’s 3-1 victory over the 1999 World Cup Champions on November 11, 2000.
WUSA players Amy Walsh, Charmaine Hooper, Sharolta Nonen, Karina LeBlanc and Silvana Burtini will not attend the camp due to club commitments. Kelly Parker and Erin McCallum, from the Women’s Under-20 Team pool, have been invited to train with the full national team for the first time.
