Host Canada will face Costa Rica, Cuba and Haiti, while USA will play Mexico, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic in the group phase of the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying final.

The Monday 24 October draw for the 2012 event ensured a rematch between the two-time champion USA and Mexico, the team that upset the Americans in last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying tournament. Next year’s CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament takes place 19-29 January in Vancouver, BC.

A complete schedule of games is expected to be announced by the end of the week.

Two teams will qualify for the London 2012 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament which runs 27 July to 12 August of next year.

In 2008, USA won on kicks from the penalty mark following a 1:1 draw with Canada in the championship final. In 2004, it was USA winning 3:2 over Mexico for the continental title.

While USA has won the last two CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournaments, it is Canada who was won the most recent CONCACAF title. In November 2010, Canada won the CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifying tournament.
