Winnipeg, Manitoba to host 2025 Masters Championships
Winnipeg, Manitoba has been confirmed as the host city for the Masters Championship as part of Canada Soccer’s 2025 National Championships. Hosted by Manitoba Soccer in the first weekend of October, the 2025 Masters Championships will feature the top over-age men’s and women’s amateur teams from across the country.
This will mark the first time that Canada Soccer’s Masters Championship is hosted in one venue as opposed to regional competitions on either side of the country. The over-age competition features men’s footballers 35 years or older as well as women’s footballers 30 years or older.
“The Manitoba Soccer Association is very pleased and excited to be the next host of the Masters Championships. We know there is a strong tradition of this competition having been a past host of the event, and we will do our best to keep that tradition going. We look forward to putting together a great competition and welcoming the participants and fans to Friendly Manitoba. Having the entire country represented in one competition adds another exciting element to the event. We thank Canada Soccer for giving us the opportunity to welcome the country to our City and Province!”
With its central location, Winnipeg has a long history of more than 110 years of hosting Canada Soccer’s national competitions and National Team events. In the past decade, Winnipeg hosted Canada Soccer’s National Championships for the Challenge Trophy and Jubilee Trophy in 2012, the Western Masters Championships in 2016, the Canada Summer Games in 2017, and Women’s National Team international matches in 2014 and 2017.
“On behalf of Canada Soccer, I am thrilled to congratulate the City of Winnipeg on being named the host city for the Masters Championship as part of the 2025 Canada Soccer National Championships. Winnipeg’s strong soccer community makes it the perfect setting for this exciting event. Congratulations to Manitoba Soccer and everyone involved in making this happen,” added Peter Augruso, President of Canada Soccer.
As Canada Soccer’s largest national event featuring clubs from coast to coast, the National Championships have served as the nation’s primary amateur soccer competition for more than 110 years, with the men’s competition inaugurated in 1913, the youth competition inaugurated in 1966, and the women’s competition inaugurated in 1982. At all age levels, the National Championships provide a meaningful week-long soccer experience for host cities and participating teams, as well as the players, coaches, support staff, officials, and volunteers.
Following the Masters Championship in the first weekend of October, Canada Soccer’s National Championships will continue the following week through Thanksgiving 2025 across six divisions in three venues: the premier adult competition for the men’s Challenge Trophy and women’s Jubilee Trophy; the U-17 Cup competition for boys and girls; the U-15 Cup competition for boys and girls.
