Vaughan Sonsci wins 2022 Eastern Masters regional championship

Vaughan Sonsci won Canada Soccer’s 2022 Eastern Masters regional championship in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Vaughan won all three of their matches in the weekend tournament at King George V Park.

Vaughan’s winning side featured Bruna Baldassarra, Richard Edwards, Luca Forno, Rick Forno, Tati Ibanez, Mike Le, Mike Luk, Joe Marcantonio, Branko Majstorovic, Angelo Nero, Matt Palleschi, Angelo Pollastrone, Jack Przednowek, Aundrae Rollins, Franco Ruscetta, Chris Turner, Alex Vasquez, and Ron Xavier. The team is coached by Andrea Lombardo.

The weekend tournament featured a round-robin format with teams from Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland Labrador. Each team played on successive days from 23 to 25 September. Players in the competition are all 35 years or older.

Vaughan won 3:1 over AS Point-Claire on Friday, 4:0 over the hosts Holy Cross FC on Saturday, and then 2:0 over Halifax Athens United FC. Six different players scored goals for Vaughan.
