Kadeisha Buchanan, Jordyn Huitema and Ashley Lawrence will resume their 2019-20 UEFA Women’s Champions League seasons on Saturday 22 August as the continental competition returns to action. All three members of Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team are in the quarter-final phase: Buchanan with three-time defending champions FCF Olympique Lyonnais and both Huitema and Lawrence with Paris Saint-Germain FC.
Buchanan and FCF Olympique Lyonnais will face FC Bayern Munich in Bilbao, Spain at 14.00 ET / 11.00 PT in one of four UEFA Quarter-final matches. Huitema, Lawrence and Paris Saint-Germain FC, meanwhile, will feature Arsenal FC in San Sebastian, Spain, with the kick off also at 14.00 ET / 11.00 PT. The two winning teams from these matches will meet in the UEFA Semi-finals on Wednesday 26 August.
Buchanan is the first Canadian to win a UEFA Champions League title, in fact winning it three years in a row since she debuted with OL in 2017. Already this season, Buchanan has won both the league title and French Cup, with the domestic Cup victory on 9 August against Paris Saint-Germain FC.
Lawrence is in her third season at Paris Saint-Germain FC, having reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2017 before losing on kicks from the penalty mark against Buchanan and Olympique Lyonnais. Huitema is in her first season in France and hopes to reach the European final for the first time.
