Canada wins 2:0 over USA in a Men’s International Friendly match played in Vancouver, BC. Igor Vrablic scores both goals in the victory while Tino Lettieri posts the clean sheet.

THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 2 April 1992
Canada wins 5:2 over China PR in a Men’s International Friendly match in Victoria, BC. John Catliff (two), Norm Odinga, Nick Gilbert and Doug Muirhead score for Canada. Geoff Aunger and Nick Dasovic make their debuts for Canada. Coach Bob Lenarduzzi gets his first win in his third international “A” match on the Canadian bench. It also marks Canada’s first-ever win on home soil against an Asian opponent.

Canada wins 6:0 over Trinidad and Tobago at the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifier in Juarez, Mexico. Melissa Tancredi, Jonelle Filigno, Kara Lang, Randee Hermus, Jodi-Ann Robinson and Christine Sinclair score for Canada. Brittany Timko becomes the eighth player to make her 75th appearance for Canada.

THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 4 April 1993
In Canada’s first match of the CONCACAF Final Round of 1994 FIFA World Cup USA Qualifiers, Canada has a victory “taken away” after Honduras scores a late penalty in a 2:2 draw at Estadio Tiburcio Carías Andino in Tegucigalpa. Cesar Villeda scores the equalizer in the 89th minute – the third penalty goal of the match – to the delight of 30,000 Honduran fans. John Catliff and Richardson Smith had traded penalty goals in the first half. After Catliff’s goal gave Canada a 1-0 lead, a five-minute stoppage was required until fans stopped throwing “missiles” and bottles in the direction of the match officials and Canadian players. Alex Bunbury then gave Canada a 2-1 lead midway through the second half (which prompted fans to again throw projectiles) before Villeda scored the late equalizer.

Canada wins 4:0 over Jamaica in an away Men’s International Friendly match. John Catliff scores three goals for Canada. James Grimes also scores in the match.

In Stephen Hart’s first match as U-17 coach, Canada wins 1:0 over El Salvador in a Men’s U-17 International Friendly match. Shyle Braithwaite scores the lone goal in the Canada win.

THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 6 April 2008
Canada wins 1:0 over Costa Rica at the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Juarez, Mexico. Melissa Tancredi scores the lone goal in the 15th minute, although later an apparent Christine Sinclair goal is called off.
