Melissa Tancredi has made her 50th appearance for Canada. Tancredi reached the milestone in the 9 December women’s international match at the Torneio Internacional Cidade de São Paulo, Brazil. The international match was played against Netherlands at the Estádio do Pacaembu.

Melissa Tancredi has made her 50th appearance for Canada. Tancredi reached the milestone in the 9 December women’s international match at the Torneio Internacional Cidade de São Paulo, Brazil. The international match was played against Netherlands at the Estádio do Pacaembu.



Tancredi is the 20th player to reach the milestone. In her first 49 matches, the 28-year old star scored 11 times, which ranks tied for eighth on the all-time list.



Tancredi has represented Canada at one FIFA Women’s World Cup (China 2007), one Women’s Olympic Football Tournament (Beijing 2008), and four CONCACAF championships (2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010). She helped Canada win a gold medal at the recent 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Cancún, Mexico.



Tancredi was four years old when she started playing soccer in Ancaster, ON. She currently plays for Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
