Monday, June 16, 2003 (TORONTO) The Canadian Soccer Association Tide Mini Soccer Festival Program for 2003 is helping the sport of soccer set new standards in participation. We are delighted that Tide has again partnered with the CSA in this developmental and promotional grassroots program, said CSA President Andy Sharpe. This year we expect over 200,000 young soccer players to participate in Tide Mini Soccer, which is one of Canada’s largest grass roots sports programs.
222 festivals have been booked to date for 2003 across 10 provinces, which began in March and will conclude in October. Since 1999, the Mini Soccer Program administered by the CSA has grown by 64%.

“We hope the Tide Mini Soccer Festival Program helps to inspire today’s youth in the rewarding game of soccer,” says Daniela Savona, Assistant Brand Manager of Tide Canada. “We’re thankful for our partnership with the Canadian Soccer Association.”
Joining Tide as national sponsors are Sunny Delight, adidas, Febreze, and the Government of Canada. Regional sponsors include Air Heads and Banana Boat.
The Canadian Soccer Association works in conjunction with Provincial Soccer Associations and local clubs at all levels to present the Tide Mini Soccer Festivals.
This youth development program creates a non-competitive environment that targets the grassroots level, in particular children between the ages of five and ten. Tide Mini Soccer Festivals emphasize soccer’s basic skills, fair play, and sportsmanship in their skills zones and tournaments within the festivals.
