Saskatoon SK Impact FC won 4-2 on penalties to capture the women’s 2025 Futsal Canadian Championship after a thrilling Canadian Final at Brandt Arena in Regina, Saskatchewan. MVP Jade Houmphanh scored twice in extra time as well as the winning kick in the shootout as Saskatoon beat Underdogs FC for the title.
Saskatoon led 2-1 after 20 minutes before Montréal’s Shayla He scored the 2-2 equaliser in the second half. Houmphanh scored Saskatoon’s 3-2 and 4-2 goals in extra time, but Emma Fortin and then Ruxandra Zamfir both scored equalisers before the shootout.
Goals in the first half were scored by Montréal’s Lili Horn-Miranda for the 1-0 lead, Taniel Gay for the 1-1 equaliser, and then a Houmphanh shot redirected by Montréal into their own goal for Saskatoon’s 2-1 lead.
In the shootout after the 4-4 draw, Saskatoon won 4-2 on goals by Leesa Eggum, Taisa Gabruch, Erica Hindmarsh and Houmphanh.
This year marks the third edition of the women’s Futsal Canadian Championship since the division was inaugurated in 2022 after the pandemic. The Saskatoon winning roster featured goalkeepers Codi Ens and Jadyn Steinhauer as well as outfield players Leesa Eggum, Maya Gabruch, Taisa Gabruch, Hannah Gannitsos-Clark, Taneil Gay, Eric Hindmarsh, Jade Houmphanh, Jacqueline Reynaud, Caitlin Stove, and Hailey Weber. The team was led by coach Matthew Hnatiw, assistant Zachary Edwards, and staff Amou Madol and Garnette Weber.
