Samuel Charron scores milestone 50th international goal

Samuel Charron is the first Para Soccer player to score 50 international goals for Canada. Charron reached the milestone on Sunday night in the group phase of the 2023 Parapanamerican Games in Santiago, Chile. The 25-year old Charron has scored his 50 goals in just 58 international matches since his debut in 2012.

Captain Charron scored his milestone 50th goal in a 19 November 2023 loss to Brazil, the defending Parapanamerican Games champions. Charron was just the second Canadian player to ever score against Brazil in seven-a-side football after seven meetings between the two nations.

Charron is already a three-time Canadian Para Soccer Player of the Year and he was the Player of the Tournament / Most Valuable Player at both the 2019 and 2022 IFCPF World Cups. The Ottawa-born footballer was just 12 years old when he joined the Canadian program in 2010 and he was 14 years old when he made his international debut against Northern Ireland and scored his first goal against Denmark.

“I would like to congratulate Sam Charron on his 50th international goal for Canada,” said Drew Ferguson, Canada Soccer’s Para Soccer National Team Head Coach. “He is a world-class player and a world-class person. It’s an amazing feat and I know there will be plenty more coming for Sam.”

Charron has represented Canada at five IFCPF World Cups (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022) and two Parapanamerican Games (2015, 2023).
