Olympic bronze medal winner Sabrina D’Angelo has joined Arsenal FC in the FA Women’s Super League in England. D’Angelo joins the London-based club via a transfer from Vittsjö GIK where she spent the last four seasons in Sweden as one of the Damallsvenskan’s top goalkeepers.
“It feels amazing – it’s an honour to be here and I’m so excited to get started with the team,” said D’Angelo via arsenal.com. “This is an incredibly exciting time for Arsenal Women and I want to help the team to win trophies and achieve success for our wonderful supporters.”
D’Angelo ranked tied for second in Damallsvenskan with 10 clean sheets in 2022 as Vittsjö GIK finished sixth overall in the league standings. Across four seasons, she posted 32 clean sheets in 70 Damallsvenskan appearances and helped Vittsjö finish as high as third overall in the league standings in 2019.
An Olympic bronze medal winner with Canada in 2016, D’Angelo was also part of the Canada squad at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019. She had made 12 international “A” appearances for Canada and won three Concacaf medals. At the club level before moving to Sweden, she won the NWSL Shield in back-to-back seasons (2017, 2018) and the NWSL Championship twice (2016, 2018).
“We’re delighted to have signed Sabrina,” said Arsenal FC Women’s Head Coach Jonas Eidevall. “She is a top goalkeeper with plenty of experience in both Europe and North America and we’re confident that she will be a strong addition to our squad.”
