Preliminary Draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™

Countries from around the world have learned their routes for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. From 203 participating nations, only 31 spots are available to the world’s biggest tournament, with host Brazil already qualified for the 2014 event. The qualifying routes were determined on Saturday 30 July at the Preliminary Draw in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.



All 35 CONCACAF nations are taking part in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qualifiers™, albeit five have already been eliminated in CONCACAF Round One. Of the 30 remaining nations, 24 nations were drawn into six Round 2 groups with the winners advancing to join six other nations in four Round 3 groups.



From the 12 nations in Round 3, two nations from each group will form a final Round 4 group of six nations. From that final round, the top three teams will automatically qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™; the fourth-place team will face the champion of Oceania in a playoff to determine another 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ participant.



Canada’s national head coach Stephen Hart was amongst those in attendance for the Preliminary Draw in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
