Kadeisha Buchanan đ #TheBestInCanada
Canada Soccer’s Kadeisha Buchanan and Alphonso Davies have been named Canadian Athletes of the Year by Postmedia. Buchanan was named the 2020 Postmedia Canadian Female Athlete of the Year on Monday 28 December while Davies was named the Postmedia Canadian Male Athlete of the Year on Tuesday 29 December.
Kadeisha Buchanan won the 2020 Postmedia Female Athlete of the Year award after another stellar season with Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team and Olympique Lyonnais. Buchanan is a first-time winner of the award after finishing as the runner up in both 2015 and 2016.
A three-time winner of Canada Soccerâs Canadian Players of the Year Award, Buchanan helped Canada qualify for the Olympic Games and she won three trophies with her club Olympique Lyonnais, including her fourth UEFA Womenâs Champions League title. She was also named to the Best XI at the 2020 Concacaf Womenâs Olympic Qualifying Championship and was a year-end nominee for the UEFA Team of the Year.

Alphonso Davies won the 2020 Postmedia Male Athlete of the Year award after an incredible year with FC Bayern MĂźnchen in Germany. Davies is now a two-time winner of the award, having previously won the prize in 2018. He also won the Lou Marsh Memorial Trophy, the Lionel Conacher Award, The Athletic Canadian Athlete of the Year, and was the first Canadian named to the FIFA FIFPro Menâs World11 at The Best FIFA Football Awards.
Davies, a two-time winner of Canada Soccerâs Canadian Players of the Year Award, won five club trophies in 2020 with world-renowned FC Bayern MĂźnchen including his first UEFA Champions League title. He won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season, was named to the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season, and was the runner up for UEFA Champions League Defender of the Year.
