Ottawa Training Camp Roster Released

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian women’s national team head coach Even Pellerud today released the list of 22 players invited to a training camp to be held in Ottawa, January 4-12. The camp will be held at the new Coliseum indoor facility at Frank Clair Stadium.

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian women’s national team head coach Even Pellerud today released the list of 22 players invited to a training camp to be held in Ottawa, January 4-12. The camp will be held at the new Coliseum indoor facility at Frank Clair Stadium.
Four Ottawa players have been invited to the camp. National team veteran Charmaine Hooper, who is Canada’s all-time leading scorer with 44 goals, will attend the camp before preparing for the new women’s professional league (WUSA) which begins in April. Hooper will be joined by the Ottawa Fury’s Kristina Kiss who earned her first cap in 2000 and went on to make 16 appearances for Canada last year.
The Fury will also be represented by Noel Trepanier and Danielle Vella, who have been extended an invitation as local players. Trepanier led the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees to the CIAU Final in November and was named the CIAU’s Most Valuable Player. Vella earned her first national team cap in March and is a former CIAU Finals MVP, after winning a national title with the Gee-Gees in 1996.
Ottawa Fury and Carleton University women’s team head coach Andy Nera will be an assistant coach at the camp.
