Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Men’s World Cup Team head coach Holger Osieck today announced his 16-man roster for Canada’s full international friendly against Malta on November 14. The game, which will be played at the Hibernian Ground in Paola, will kick-off at 2:45 p.m. local time and will not be broadcast.

The squad includes goalkeepers Lars Hirschfeld and Kenny Stamatopoulos. Hirschfeld, 23, rejoins the World Cup team for the first time since backing up Pat Onstad in a World Cup Qualifyer in Panama on July 22, 2000. He earned his first and only cap on January 11 against Bermuda when he replaced Craig Forrest at halftime. Stamatopoulos, 22, is the starting goalkeeper for Greek side Kalamata FC. He represented Canada at the 2001 Francophone Games, appearing in two games and allowing three goals.

The team also includes Tomasz Radzinski, who recently earned the highest transfer fee for a Canadian player when he signed with Everton from Anderlecht on July 17, 2001 for 4.5 million pounds. Radzinski, who was capped 13 times between 1995 and 1997, has not played for Canada since a September 7, 1997 World Cup Qualifyer against Jamaica in Kingston, Jamaica.

Martin Nash also returns to the World Cup team for the first time since an October 9, 2000 World Cup Qualifyer against Panama. Nash recently won his second consecutive A-League championship with the Rochester Raging Rhinos.

The majority of the team will assemble in London, England November 11 and arrive in Malta later that day. The team will have two days of training together before playing on the 14th. The players will return to their respective clubs on November 15th.
