All four have been training at a combined Youth and Olympic Team camp in Mexico and all are being called in to the Men’s World Cup Team for the first time.

Osieck was originally to add one player from the camp but he will be without defender Paul Fenwick, who is recovering from food poisoning, and midfielder Julian de Guzman who is unavailable. Defender Marco Reda is also questionable due to a hip flexor injury.

Canizalez has spent the last two seasons with Werder Bremen, playing in their third division side, while Williams plays at the University of Mobile. Both were part of the Canadian Youth Team which competed at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. Matondo is a member of Dale Mitchell’s Youth team, as is defender Winston Marshall, who plays at Wright State University in Ohio.

The Canadian team now has no less than four Youth team players (Hutchinson, Harmse, Marshall and Matondo) on their roster. Harmse and Hutchinson are also part of the Olympic team pool which includes Chris Pozniak, Canizalez and Williams.
