In honour of two legendary captains, Canada Soccer has commissioned the “Greatest of All Time” art pieces presented to both Atiba Hutchinson and Christine Sinclair. Both “Greatest of All Time” art pieces were hand-drawn by Dan Pietens, a London, Ontario-based pencil artist that focuses on “capturing emotion in graphite.”

Both Hutchinson and Sinclair left international football in 2023 as Canada’s all-time leaders in international appearances for both the Men’s National Team and Women’s National Team programs. Hutchinson retired from football earlier this year and received his framed piece during the Concacaf Nations League Finals while Sinclair played her last international match on 5 December and received her art piece during a special pre-match ceremony in her hometown Vancouver.

Hutchinson captained Canada back to the men’s FIFA World Cup in 2022 after a first-place finish in the Concacaf Final Round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. He was a six-time Canada Soccer Player of the Year and the first Men’s National Team player to make more than 100 career international “A” appearances. He was a league and cup winner with clubs in Denmark, the Netherlands and Turkey and he featured in UEFA club competitions across 16-straight seasons from 2006-07 to 2021-22. He was a Canada Soccer President’s Award recipient in 2023.

Sinclair captained Canada to a Concacaf Championship in 2010, back-to-back Olympic Bronze Medals in 2012 and 2016, and an Olympic Gold Medal in 2021. She was a 14-time Canada Soccer Player of the Year and the first Canadian player to make more than 300 career international “A” appearances. She was a recipient of both The Best FIFA Special Award in 2021 and the Canada Soccer President’s Award in 2022, both in recognition of setting the world’s all-time international goalscoring record. Sinclair plays her club football with Portland Thorns FC where she was won several league and playoff championships.
