Newfoundland Labrador soccer awards

The Newfoundland Labrador Soccer Association has announced its 2008 award winners. The awards were announced at the annual general meeting, which featured Canadian Soccer Association president Dr. Dominic Maestracci in attendance. The two big award winners were 2008 Senior Players of the Year Mike Howlette and Nichole Adams.



Other award winners were Junior Players of the Year Sean Edwards and Michelle Ward, Coach of the Year Scott Betts, Executive of the Year Shane Howlett, and Team of the Year EPR Kirby / The Dock.

Mike Howlett helped the St. Lawrence Laurentians finish first in its league with 11 wins, eight draws and one loss. Howlett was the league’s Most Valuable Player as the team advanced to the BMO National Championships. Howlett scored two goals in the Challenge Trophy competition as the team finished seventh in the competition.



Nichole Adams helped EPR Kirby/The Dock finish first with an unbeaten 15-0-3 record in 2008. She also played for Memorial University women’s soccer team. At the BMO National Championships, she co-led the Jubilee Trophy competition with five goals as her team finished fourth. Her team also won the NLSA Team of the Year honour.
