Levis, Kambeitz named Saskatchewan’s best of 2016

Saskatchewan Soccer Technical & Recognition Awards

The Saskatchewan Soccer Association celebrated their best of 2016 at the annual Technical & Recognition Awards. Winners included Male Player of the Year Brett Levis and Female Athlete of the Year Ashley Kambeitz.

The 18 March awards night was held in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Soccer Association’s 2017 annual meeting.

Other player award winners were Thomas Hasal as Youth Male Player of the Year, Sarah Ochitwa as Youth Female Player of the Year, and Nick Fetsch as Grassroots Player of the Year. Coach winners were Jerson Barandica-Hamilton as Senior Coach of the Year, Zlatan Dautbegovic as Youth Coach of the Year, and Janelle Layton as Grassroots Coach of the Year; referee winners were Ethan Bent as Referee of the Year and Lauryn Hayes as Grassroots Referee of the Year. Darin Wildman was the Volunteer of the Year and Mark Lord was the David Newsham Outstanding Volunteer Award winner.

The three teams of the year were University of Saskatchewan women as Senior Team of the Year, Eastside U-14 Boys as Youth Team of the Year, and Swift Current United U-17 Girls as Grassroots Team of the Year.

On the evening, the Saskatchewan Soccer Association also recognized winners of the Premier League. Golden Boot winners were Kelly Lowry (U-16 Boys), Olivia Gables (U-16 Girls), and Josh Soifer (U-14 Boys); shutout award winners were Queen City United (U-16 Boys), FC Regina (U-16 Girls), and Eastside (U-14 Boys).
