Kailen Sheridan save recognized with 2024 Allstate Good Hands® Award
Canadian soccer fans across the nation have voted Kailen Sheridan’s outstanding save against the Costa Rica at 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup as the winner of the 2024 Allstate Canadian National Teams Good Hands® Award.
Sheridan’s save came in the 90th+ minute of the Quarter-Final match at the Concacaf W Gold Cup, at BMO Stadium, as Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team battled for the chance to move on to the Semi-Finals. With the match locked at 0-0- with at the conclusion of regular time, Costa Rican midfielder Camila Gómez Ares struck a fierce shot, in added time of the second half, towards the Canadian goal. With the ball tracking towards the bottom left corner, Sheridan stretched wide with a spectacular reactionary save, keeping the match at nil-nil, pushing the match into extra time, where Canada ended up scoring the all-important winning goal, and moving on to the Semi-Finals.
The Allstate Good Hands® Award, which recognizes the top save by a Canada Soccer National Team goalkeeper during international play, was chosen by fans during the online voting period which ran from 9 to 14 December 2024. Allstate will present Sheridan with the 2024 Good Hands® Award at a future National Team home match.
Neal Muschett, Allstate Canada’s Director of Marketing commented, “We believe in Good Hands at Allstate, but Kailen’s great Kick Save against Costa Rica was truly a Beauty.”
