Combined with the devaluation of past results, Canada lost 52 points on the monthly ranking and now sits 83rd overall on the global ranking released on 29 June.

The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings looks at each country’s international results from the last four years. The ranking takes into account the result, the importance of the match, the strength of the opponent, the regional strength, the time period, and the number of matches per year. Matches played more than a year ago are valued 50% of matches played in the last year (matches played more than two years ago are valued at 30% while matches played more than three years ago are valued at 20%).

Canada played three new matches with counted towards the ranking: a 2:2 draw with Peru, an 0:2 loss to USA, and a 1:1 draw with Panama. Canada’s 1:0 win over non-FIFA member Guadeloupe did not count towards the ranking. Canada was eliminated from the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup following the draw with Panama in which an added time goal was conceded to the opposition.

Mexico, USA and Jamaica are now the top-3 nations in CONCACAF, with Honduras dropping to fourth spot in the confederation. Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Canada, Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago round out the CONCACAF top-10.

On the global ranking, Spain and Netherlands remain one and two, but Germany, England and Brazil have been reorganized within the top-5. Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Mexico and Argentina round out the top-10.
