January 2013: Canada holds steady at 64

Canada MNT’s position unchanged in January 2013 FIFA World Ranking.

Canada’s Men’s National Team’s position is unchanged in the latest FIFA World Ranking published on 17 January, 2013.

The Canadians remain in 64th position following a month of little movement across the board in the FIFA Ranking owing to limited internaitonal activity. Canada is ranked seventh amongst CONCACAF nations in the monthly listing published on FIFA.com.

Spain continues to top the World Ranking, followed by Germany and Argentina.

Mexico remains the highest-ranking CONCACAF side.

The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking looks at each country’s international results from the last four years. The ranking takes into account the result, the importance of the match, the strength of the opponent, the regional strength, the time period, and the number of matches per year. Matches played more than a year ago are valued 50% of matches played in the last year; matches played more than two years ago are valued at 30% while matches played more than three years ago are valued at 20%.

Meanwhile, Canada began its camp in Scottsdale, AZ on Sunday 20 January and is currently preparing for a pair of Men’s International Friendlies. Canada will take on Denmark on 26 January in Tucson, AZ before doing battle with USA on 29 January in Houston, TX.
