Canadians Jordyn Huitema and Quinn have won the 2022 National Women’s Soccer League Shield with Seattle’s OL Reign. The duo helped the OL Reign finish first overall with 40 points after 22 league matches. OL Reign clinched the title on the last weekend of the season as they finished the campaign with 11 wins, seven draws and four losses.

It was the organisation’s first NWSL Shield since 2015, albeit a first NWSL title for both Huitema and Quinn. The club finished first overall in the league standings in 2014 and 2015 as well second overall in the standings in 2021. They also finished runners up in the playoffs in both 2014 and 2015.

Quinn is in their fourth NWSL season and was part of OL Reign’s second-place finish in 2021, losing the title by just two points to Portland Thorns FC. This season, OL Reign beat Portland in the standings by just one point. Huitema meanwhile, is in her first season after arriving from France in July 2022. Huitema was a Championnat de France league winner in 2020-21 with Paris Saint-Germain FC.

OL Reign and Portland Thorns FC will be joined by San Diego Wave FC, Houston Dash, Kansas City Current and one more team in the 2022 NWSL playoffs. The NWSL Championship Final is scheduled for Saturday 29 October at Audi Field in Washington, DC, USA.
