Holy Cross FC men’s and women’s soccer teams won their respective provincial championships on Saturday when the Newfoundland & Labrador Soccer Association wrapped up the local Premier League season. The men won 3:0 at Topsail Field over Conception Bay South Strikers FC while the women won 6:0 at Paradise over St. John’s SC.

All four finalists have qualified for Canada Soccer’s 2025 National Championships which will be hosted by St. John’s SC from 8-13 October at King George V Park and the Fortis Canada Games Complex. Both Holy Cross FC teams qualified as the host teams before winning their respective “NL1” spots. Conception Bay South Strikers FC qualified after they beat Mount Pearl FC in the Wednesday Semifinals while St. John’s SC qualified a day later after they beat Feildians AA in the women’s Semifinals.

In the men’s Saturday Final, Hashem Khalifa and Jake Warren scored on the first half on a pair of crosses from Jacob Grant. Santiago Herrera then put it away with the 3-0 goal in the second half.

It was the men’s team 25th provincial championship since 1950, just four back of record holders St. Lawrence Laurentians who last won in 2016. Holy Cross FC men have won 13 of the last 17 provincial titles from 2009 to 2025.

In the women’s Saturday Final, six different players scored for Holy Cross FC: Jessie Noseworthy, Ellie Power, Connie Lewis, Teri Murphy, Bethany Lee, and Claire Kean-Running. Holy Cross FC women have won 10 provincial titles in a row since 2015.
