Holy Cross FC repeat as Jubilee Trophy winners at Toyota National Championships

Holy Cross FC won their second-consecutive Jubilee Trophy at Canada Soccer’s Toyota National Championships on Teck Finals Day 2023 in Halifax. The St. John’s club became the first Newfoundland and Labrador team to win back-to-back national titles in the 111-year history of the National Championships after they won 2:0 over CS Mont-Royal Outremont in the national amateur women’s final.

Holy Cross FC were perfect across the week with five wins and five clean sheets in five matches from Wednesday to Monday. Teen goalkeeper Shannon Galway was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player while teammates Jane Pope and Emily Bailey co-led the tournament with four goals each. Jessie Noseworthy earned Player of the Match honours in the Monday win.

The Holy Cross FC winning side featured Alyssa Armstrong, Anna AuCoin, Emily Bailey, Abigail Evans, Shannon Galway, Kate Hickey, Sarah Jones, Bethany Lee, Connie Lewis, Ciara Molloy, Alexe Morgan, Teri Murphy, Jessie Noseworthy, Jane Pope, Noelle Stanford, Chelsea Tiller and Keisha Younge.

Teck Finals Day for the Jubilee Trophy was played on Monday 9 October at Mainland Commons in Halifax. Referees for the Jubilee Trophy Final were Isabelle Duclos, Audrey Zielinski, O-Lin Metz and Marie-Soleil Beaudoin. In the men’s Challenge Trophy Final, West Ottawa SC won 1:0 over Western Halifax FC.

Next year’s Jubilee Trophy Final will be played in Surrey, British Columbia as part of Canada Soccer’s 2024 Toyota National Championships in October.
