Ontario Cup
Defending national champions Gloucester Celtic FC won the Ontario Cup men’s provincial championship as they qualified for Canada Soccer’s 2025 National Championships. The Ottawa-based club won 2:0 on Sunday over Woodbridge Strikers SC in the Ontario Cup Final at Vaughan, Ontario.
Marco Natoli scored the match winner in the 70th minute, Viegas scored the second goal on a rebound in the 84th minute, and goalkeeper Anton Favre posted the clean sheet. The Natoli winner was assisted by Luca Piccioli who delivered the pass to Natoli in the penalty area. Before both goals, Javane Henry had a breakaway chance stopped by the Woodbridge goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez.
It was Gloucester Celtic FC’s sixth Ontario Cup provincial championship in 13 years (2013, 2016, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025) and they now advance to the National Championships for the fifth time in that same era. Gloucester Celtic FC won the National Championships for the Challenge Trophy in 2013, 2022, and 2024.
In the Sunday 7 September Ontario Cup Final, Gloucester Celtic FC’s starting lineup featured Anton Favre (goalkeeper), Milosh Stojanovic, Justin Earle, Christopher Malekos, Adam Malakos, Anton Petrov, Kelvin Asabre, Luca Piccioli, Marco Natoli, Javane Henry, and Joey Kewin. In the match, Cameron Butterfield, Robert Murphy, Devyn Viegas and Willem Grant featured as substitutes while Olivier Babineau, Moses Kafeero, Diego Politis, and Jair Troncoso dressed but did not feature. The team is managed by Matt Williams.
